Okay, so I’ve been vaping for a while now, and recently I got into this whole “shortfill” thing. It sounded kinda complicated at first, but it’s actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Let me tell you how I went about it.
First, I picked out a shortfill flavor I wanted to try. There are tons of options, so I spent a good chunk of time just browsing. I finally settled on a fruity one – something with mango and passionfruit, sounded delicious!

What I Did
- Grabbed the bottle: Shortfills come in bigger bottles than usual, but they’re not completely full – that’s the “shortfill” part. There’s space left at the top.
- Figured out my nicotine: I wanted a 3mg strength, so I needed to add a “nic shot.” These are little bottles of unflavored nicotine liquid. There’s usually a chart somewhere that tells you how many nic shots to add for your desired strength.
- Opened everything up: I unscrewed the cap of the shortfill and the nic shot. Some shortfills have a little nozzle thingy you need to pop off first – I just used my fingernail to pry it up.
- Poured it in: I carefully poured the nic shot into the shortfill bottle. Made sure I didn’t spill any!
- Shook it like crazy: This is super important! I put the cap back on tight and shook the bottle really, really well for a couple of minutes. You want the nicotine to mix evenly with the e-liquid.
- Let it steep (optional): Some people say it’s best to let the mix sit for a few hours or even a day to let the flavors really blend. I’m usually too impatient for that, but I did let it sit for about 30 minutes this time.
- Filled up my tank: Finally, I filled my vape tank with the mixed-up juice and…vaped!
That is * worked out great! The flavor was awesome, and it was actually kind of fun to mix it all myself. I feel like a mad scientist or something. Definitely going to keep doing the shortfill thing – it’s cheaper than buying pre-mixed bottles, and you get way more control over the nicotine strength.
