Electronic Cigarettes and Air Travel Regulations
Carry-on Baggage Only: Electronic cigarettes, vapes, vape pens, e-cigars, and other personal vaporizing devices must be transported in your carry-on baggage. They are strictly prohibited in checked luggage.
Fire Safety Precaution: This regulation is primarily due to the lithium batteries in these devices, which pose a fire risk if they are damaged, short-circuit, or inadvertently activate in the aircraft’s cargo hold.

Onboard Prohibitions:
- Usage Forbidden: The use of electronic cigarettes (vaping) is strictly forbidden at all times while on board the aircraft. This includes in the lavatories.
- Charging Forbidden: Charging these devices or their batteries during the flight is also prohibited.
Battery Management:
- Spare lithium batteries for these devices must also be carried in carry-on baggage.
- Each spare battery must be individually protected to prevent short circuits. This can be achieved by keeping them in their original retail packaging, by taping over exposed terminals, or by placing each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective pouch.
Important Advisory: While these are common international guidelines, regulations can vary slightly between airlines and countries. It is always recommended to verify the specific policies with your airline and check the local regulations for your departure, transit, and arrival destinations before you travel.
