Okay, so, picture this: I was chilling at my buddy’s place, we were hanging out by the pool, you know, just a typical Saturday afternoon. I had my vape in my pocket, as one does, and I totally forgot about it. Next thing I know, I’m jumping into the pool to grab a floating beer, and splash! I completely soaked myself, and of course, my vape got water all over it too.
First thing I did was, I fished the thing out of my pocket and, yeah, it was like, totally wet. And I was like, “Oh, man, is this thing even gonna work again?”
So I turned it off immediately. I remembered reading somewhere that you should never turn on a device after dropping it into the water. It may lead to a short circuit or something. I think it was a good decision.
Next step, I tried to get as much water out as possible. I took the battery out, shook the vape like crazy to remove water, and I also blew into all the little holes and openings, hoping to push the water out. I wiped it down with a dry towel, you know, to get rid of the surface water.

After that, I grabbed a small fan from the garage. I placed my vape right in front of it. I figured the constant airflow would help dry out any remaining water inside. I let it sit there for a whole day, like, a full 24 hours, just to be safe. Every few hours, I’d rotate the vape a bit, trying to get the air into all the different parts. I was super careful not to turn it on during this time. I know that would have been a bad idea.
The next day, I was kinda nervous but also excited to see if my efforts paid off. I put the battery back in, took a deep breath, and pressed the power button. And guess what? It worked! Man, I was so relieved. It hit just like it did before.
So, yeah, that’s my story of how I saved my vape after dropping it into the water. It was a bit of a scare, but it all worked out in the end. If this ever happens to you, just remember: turn it off, dry it out, and give it some time in front of a fan. Hopefully, you’ll have the same luck I did.
I’ve heard that if your e-cig is a disposable one, it’s probably a goner if it gets wet. I guess they’re not really meant to get wet at all. So, be extra careful with those, maybe?
Oh, and one more thing, I noticed some vape juice leaking onto the battery connection after all this. That was kind of a mess, so I had to clean that up, too. Just a heads-up, something to watch out for if you ever find yourself in a similar situation.
