So, the other day, I was hanging out with some friends, and we got into this discussion about vaping. You know, it’s all the rage these days. One of my buddies pulled out this thing called a Geek Bar. Now, I’ve seen these around, but I never really gave them much thought. But then we started wondering, how does it compare to regular cigarettes? Like, how many cigarettes would you have to smoke to get the same amount of nicotine as one of these Geek Bars?
Naturally, I got curious. I mean, we all know smoking is bad, but vaping is often seen as the “lesser evil.” But is it really? So, I decided to do some digging.

First, I grabbed a Geek Bar and took a closer look. There’s gotta be some info on the packaging, right? Sure enough, I saw that it contained 20mg/ml of nicotine. That’s 2%, folks. I had to do a bit of math to figure out the total nicotine content.
Then I did some research. Some doctor named Mudhar was quoted saying that one of these Geek Bars is like smoking 48 to 50 cigarettes. Sounds crazy, right? He said both Geek Bars and Elf Bars have 2 milligrams of nicotine salt. Each cigarette has about 1.5mg of nicotine. I had heard of Elf Bars but I had never tried them, and I was surprised to learn they had the same amount of nicotine.
I also found that there are around 500 cigarettes in a 5. That didn’t help me much because it was too broad, and I was just looking at the Geek Bar. So I had to do my own math to calculate how many cigarettes are equivalent to one Geek Bar.
To understand better, I had to break down the numbers. If a Geek Bar has 20mg/ml of nicotine, I needed to find out how many milliliters were in the device. The packaging said it was 2ml. So, 20mg/ml multiplied by 2ml equals 40mg of nicotine in total.
Next, I needed to compare this to regular cigarettes. It’s said that an average cigarette delivers about 1.5mg of nicotine. So, if one Geek Bar has 40mg of nicotine and one cigarette has 1.5mg, then one Geek Bar is roughly equivalent to 26.67 cigarettes. That’s a lot less than what Dr. Mudhar said, but it’s still a lot!
My Findings
- Experiment: Compared nicotine content in a Geek Bar to regular cigarettes.
- Action: Examined a Geek Bar’s packaging, noting 20mg/ml (2%) nicotine content.
- Research: Found a quote from Dr. Mudhar equating a Geek Bar to 48-50 cigarettes.
- Calculation: Determined total nicotine in a Geek Bar (2ml 20mg/ml = 40mg).
- Comparison: Found average cigarette has 1.5mg nicotine.
- Conclusion: Calculated one Geek Bar is approximately equivalent to 26.67 cigarettes.
This little experiment really opened my eyes. It’s one thing to hear that vaping is bad, but seeing the numbers like this really puts things into perspective. It’s wild to think that one little Geek Bar could be like smoking over a pack of cigarettes. Makes you think twice about what you’re putting into your body, right?
