Okay, so I recently snagged a SMOK Nord 50W. This thing is pretty neat, but I was a bit lost when it came to choosing the right coils. There are just so many options! I mean, you’ve got your RPM coils, your Nord coils, and they all come in different resistances. It’s enough to make your head spin.
First, I did some digging online. I found out that the 0.6ohm Mesh coil is generally recommended for a direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping style, promising the best flavor. Seemed like a good starting point. I also stumbled upon some info about using the 0.8ohm Mesh MTL coils for mouth-to-lung vaping, especially with nic salt e-liquids. But since I was rolling with a 70/30 salt nic, the 0.6ohm coil seemed like the way to go.
So, I popped in the 0.6ohm Nord mesh coil and filled up the pod. This kit actually comes with two different pods, one for RPM coils and another for Nord coils. Make sure you use the right one! I’ve heard some folks say that certain RPM quartz coils might not fit, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning to experiment with those.
Experimenting with Wattage
Now, the coil I’m using says “best 20-35W” on the side. But here’s the thing, I like to vape at way lower wattages, like around 5 to 10 watts. I just find it more enjoyable that way. So, I started low and gradually increased the wattage, trying to find that sweet spot. And guess what? Even at those lower settings, the Nord 50W still delivered a pretty decent vape. The flavor was there, and the vapor production was surprisingly good.

- The Nord 50W is versatile. You can totally use it with different coils and at various wattages.
- Even if a coil suggests a higher wattage range, don’t be afraid to experiment with lower settings. You might be surprised.
- Make sure you’re using the correct pod for your chosen coil type. This is important!
At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference. I’m happy with the 0.6ohm Nord mesh coil at lower wattages, but you might prefer something different. The beauty of vaping is that you can customize your experience to fit your needs. Just don’t be afraid to experiment and find what works best for you!
