Okay, so I’ve been messing around with these Zyn pouches lately, trying to figure out how long you’re supposed to keep them in. I mean, the instructions are there, but they’re not exactly super clear, right? So, I decided to do a little experiment of my own.
First off, I grabbed a can of Zyn. I went with the “cool mint” flavor, ’cause why not? Each can has like 15 of these little pouches. I popped one in between my gum and lip like the package said.

Now, the waiting game began. I set a timer on my phone to keep track. The first few minutes, not much happened. But after about 5 minutes, I started to feel that nicotine buzz kick in. It’s a weird feeling, kinda tingly, but not unpleasant.
I kept the pouch in for 30 minutes, and honestly, that was about my sweet spot. I felt like I got a good dose of nicotine without it being too much. Plus, the flavor started to fade around that time anyway. I could have left it in for longer. They suggest to leave it no more than 60 minutes. But, I decided to try and push it.
- Round 1: Kept it in for 30 minutes. Felt good, nicotine was there, flavor was decent.
- Round 2: Left it in for 45 minutes. Nicotine buzz was a bit stronger, but the flavor was pretty much gone. Started to get a little uncomfortable, not gonna lie.
- Round 3: Tried to reach 60 minutes, but tapped out at 55. My mouth felt weird, and I was kinda over it at that point.
- One day when I was bored: Decided to keep it in my mouth for 1 hour and 20 minutes to see how it would go, but I couldn’t stop feeling uncomfortable and eventually took it out.
My Experiment:
So, what did I learn from my little Zyn adventure? Well, for me, 30 minutes is the way to go. I can enjoy the nicotine and the flavor, but my mouth doesn’t get irritated. But hey, everyone’s different. Some people might like to keep it in longer, some might want to take it out sooner. I heard that some heavy smokers may need to leave it up to 4-5 days! That’s crazy.
One thing I did notice is that you can totally swallow your saliva while using these things. I was a bit worried about that at first, but it’s all good. It’s not like chewing tobacco where you gotta spit all the time. It’s way more discreet than that.
Oh, and if you’re using Zyn to quit smoking, and you feel like it’s not cutting it, maybe try a higher strength. They come in different levels, so you can find what works for you. I’m no doctor, so take this with a grain of salt, but I don’t want to have ulcers.
Anyway, that’s my Zyn story. I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else was curious. Just remember, be safe, listen to your body, and don’t leave those things in for too long, or you might end up with a sore mouth!
