Okay, so I recently had to fly from Los Angeles to New York, and I was like, can I take my dab pen with me? I mean, it’s just a vape, right? But you know how it is with all those rules.
First off, I did a bit of digging online. Turns out, you can bring your dab pen on the plane, but only the device itself. If you’ve got any of that good stuff – the concentrates – that’s a big no-no. Federal law and all that jazz, even if you’re flying between places where it’s all cool and legal.

So, I emptied my pen, made sure it was all clean and stuff. No residue, you know? I didn’t want any trouble with the TSA folks.
Then, I packed it up. From what I read, it’s better to keep these things in your carry-on. Something about the batteries and checked baggage not mixing well. So, I popped my dab pen into a little Ziploc bag – gotta prevent those leaks, man – and tucked it into my carry-on.
Here’s a quick rundown of what I did:
- Emptied the Pen: Made sure there was absolutely no concentrate in it.
- Cleaned It: Gave it a good wipe down to get rid of any residue.
- Packed in Carry-On: Put it in a Ziploc bag and into my carry-on luggage.
When I got to the airport, it was pretty smooth sailing. I went through security, they did their usual scan, and nobody batted an eye at my dab pen. I guess they see these things all the time.
On the plane, I didn’t use it, obviously. That’s a no-go. But once I landed in New York, I was good to go. Just had to get my hands on some concentrate, which was easy peasy since it’s legal there.
So, yeah, that’s my experience taking a dab pen on a plane. You can do it, just make sure it’s empty and clean, and keep it in your carry-on. Easy enough, right?
