So, the other day I had to fly from Los Angeles to New York. You know, a regular cross-country trip. I got this foldable cart that I really like, and I was wondering if I could take it with me on the plane. I mean, it folds up pretty nicely and all. Anyway, I did a bit of digging around to figure this out.
First off, I went online and started searching. I found a bunch of stuff saying you can usually bring a foldable cart on a plane, but there are some rules. Most of it is common sense, like making sure it fits in the overhead bin and won’t cause a problem for other people’s stuff.

Then, I got into the details. One site mentioned that different types of carts are okay, like luggage carts or utility carts, but they all gotta fit the airline’s size limits. I started to get a little bit worried because I wasn’t sure about the exact dimensions of my cart when it’s folded up.
Here’s what I did next:
- I measured my cart. It was a bit of a hassle, but I had to make sure it’s not going to be a problem.
- I called the airline. I figured it’s better to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth. The guy on the phone was pretty chill and said as long as it fits in the overhead, I’m good. He also mentioned that I might have to pay a fee, but that depends.
- I packed my cart carefully. I wrapped it in a way that it wouldn’t scratch or damage anything else. It takes a bit of time, but it’s way better than dealing with the issues at the airport.
My Experience at the Airport
When I got to the airport, I went through the usual stuff. Security check, the whole shebang. I had my cart with me as a carry-on. At the security checkpoint, they didn’t even bat an eye. I guess they see these things all the time.
Boarding the plane was smooth too. I managed to fit my cart into the overhead bin without any drama. It was a bit snug, but it fit. I didn’t have to pay any extra fees, which was a relief.
Oh, and I also had a vape with me. I read somewhere that you can bring it on the plane, but it has to be in your carry-on. I didn’t have any issues with that either. It’s not like I was planning to use it on the plane or anything, just wanted to have it with me.
All in all, it was a pretty straightforward experience. No big deal, really. I just had to do some research, make a few calls, and pack properly. So yeah, you can totally bring a cart on a plane, at least in my experience.
Just make sure you check the rules and pack it right, and you’re good to go! At most, bring a cart to help you make it through your day of travel.
