Okay, so I had this trip planned, right? And I’m a bit of a, shall we say, “herbal enthusiast.” I use this wax pen for my, um, “relaxation.” Naturally, I was sweating bullets about whether I could bring this thing on the plane with me. I mean, I didn’t wanna end up in some airport jail cell, you know?
First thing I did was hit up Google. And boy, was that a rabbit hole. Some websites were saying “no problem, just toss it in your carry-on,” while others were like, “are you crazy? You’ll get arrested!” Talk about confusing.

After wading through tons of conflicting info, I decided to go straight to the source: the TSA website. I figured they’d have the final say on this whole thing. I typed in “wax pen” and started scrolling through their rules. And there it was, plain as day.
Carry-on is your friend
- They basically said these pens are cool to bring, but only in your carry-on bag.
- Apparently, there’s some rule about batteries and fire hazards, so you can’t put them in your checked luggage. Makes sense, I guess.
So, armed with this newfound knowledge, I carefully disassembled my wax pen. I put the battery in one ziplock bag, the cartridge in another, and made sure everything was nice and clean. I even printed out the TSA page about vaping devices, just in case some overzealous agent gave me a hard time.
When I got to the airport, I was still a little nervous. But I went through security, and guess what? No problem at all! They didn’t even bat an eye at my little baggie of pen parts. I breezed right through, feeling like a total champ.
I spent the whole flight feeling super relieved. And once I got to my destination, I put my pen back together and enjoyed a nice, relaxing vacation. See? Sometimes, things actually work out the way you hope they will!
