Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot about disposable vapes lately. And yeah, I use them sometimes, too. But, with all the talk about being eco-friendly, I started wondering, what do you even do with these things when they’re empty? They’re just piling up in my drawer. I figured, maybe vape shops buy them back? I mean, they sell them, right? So I decided to do some digging and this is my little adventure.
First, I hit up a few local vape shops. Just walked in, and asked them straight up, “Hey, do you guys buy back used disposable vapes?” Most of the guys behind the counter gave me this weird look, like I’d asked if they sold unicorn horns or something. One of them was pretty chill though. He explained that they couldn’t take them back mostly because of hygiene. Makes sense, I guess. You wouldn’t want someone else’s used vape, right?

So, the local shop route was a no-go. Then I thought, maybe there’s something online. After a few searches, not much came up. Some sites talked about prefilled pods or ready-to-vape nicotine, but nothing about stores buying back disposables. Seems like there are some rules about this, something called MHRA, and it all seems pretty complicated.
Then I started looking into recycling. Apparently, throwing them in the regular trash is a big no-no. These things have batteries and electronics, which can be harmful to the environment. I found out that some areas have special collections for stuff like this, they call it household hazardous waste. You gotta look it up online or call your local waste agency. Luckily, it looks like these collections are usually free for residents, so that’s good.
- Went to local vape shops
- Asked about buying back disposables
- Most said no, because of hygiene
- Searched online, not much info
- Found out about hazardous waste collections
- Seems like the best option is to recycle them properly
I also stumbled upon some info about dispensaries and refunds on cannabis products. Some places might take back faulty vapes, but it’s a mixed bag. Some say “all sales are final,” so you’re out of luck. That’s pretty much it for my little quest. I didn’t find a way to sell my used disposables, but at least I know how to get rid of them without messing up the planet. Hope this helps someone else who’s been wondering the same thing!
