Oh man, you won’t believe what happened to me last weekend. I was chilling by the pool, puffing on my Geek Bar, when suddenly, it slipped right out of my hand and plopped into the water! I fished it out quicker than you can say “nicotine,” but my heart sank. It was totally soaked.
First thing I did was shake that thing like a polaroid picture. I wanted to get as much water out as possible. Then I remembered reading somewhere to use a fan. So, I propped it up in front of my desk fan and let it sit there. I kept turning it every few hours, hoping the air would get into all the little nooks and crannies. The waiting was the worst part. I was so tempted to try and turn it on, but I knew that was a big no-no.

My friend told me that using a vape after it gets wet is seriously dangerous. Something about short-circuiting and electrical damage. He even said it could catch fire! I definitely didn’t want that to happen. He’s a bit of a geek about this stuff, always talking about IP67 and military-grade whatever. He was saying this one time that Geek Bars are supposed to be tough but better be safe than sorry, you know.
- Shook it vigorously to remove excess water.
- Placed it in front of a fan for over 24 hours.
- Resisted the urge to turn it on prematurely.
After a Full Day
After a full 24 hours, I finally decided to give it a try. I said a little prayer and pressed the button. And guess what? It worked! I couldn’t believe it. I was so relieved I didn’t have to trash it. Those things aren’t cheap, plus, I didn’t really want to contribute to the e-waste problem if I didn’t have to. But I know if it didn’t work next time I will take it to a vape store for recycling to protect the environment.
I’ve heard that some vape shops have recycle bins, so if it hadn’t worked, I was planning to take it to one of those. Apparently, they have some special way of disposing of them because of the nicotine and batteries. Better to let the experts handle it, I guess.
Anyway, I got lucky this time. But I’ve learned my lesson. No more vaping near water for me. From now on, I’m keeping my Geek Bar far, far away from any pools, or any water like that!
