So, the other day, I found an old cart in my drawer. I totally forgot I had it. It got me thinking, “How do I even know if this thing is still good to use?” I did some digging and wanted to share what I found out.
Check the Dates
First things first, I looked for any dates on the packaging. Turns out, most of these things have a “manufactured on” date or a “best by” date. I found the date on mine, and it was way past it. That was a pretty clear sign.

Look at the Liquid
Next, I took a good look at the oil inside the cart. The color was way off. It was this dark brown, almost black color. It didn’t look anything like when I first got it. It was supposed to be a light golden color. I also noticed the oil was super thick and cloudy. It looked kind of gross, to be honest. I definitely didn’t want to use it after seeing that.
Give It a Sniff
I decided to give it a sniff, just to see. It smelled off, kind of stale and not at all like it should. Some people say it can smell or taste burnt, but mine just smelled old and not good. That was another red flag for me.
Inspect the Package
- I also read that you should check the packaging for any info about the manufacturing. Legit carts usually have things like the manufacturing date, packaging date, and a batch number.
- I checked mine, and the information was there, but the dates were way off.
- I also looked for any spelling mistakes or weird grammar, which can be a sign of a fake cart. Mine seemed okay in that regard, but the expired dates were enough for me.
What I Learned
So, based on my little experiment, I decided to toss that old cart. It was way past the date, the oil looked and smelled bad, and it just didn’t seem worth the risk. I learned that it’s super important to pay attention to those dates and to give the cart a good look and sniff before using it. It’s better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to this stuff.
Hope this helps someone out there! Stay safe and happy vaping!
