Okay, so yesterday I tried to make that “Lightrise Hawaii Rainbow Flavor” thing I saw online. It looked so cool and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. Here’s how it went down.
The Hunt for Ingredients
First, I needed to get all the stuff. The recipe I found called for a bunch of different flavored syrups, some sparkling water, and of course, ice. Sounded simple enough, right?

- Syrups: This was the tricky part. I went to like three different stores before I found a decent selection. I ended up grabbing strawberry, blue raspberry, mango, and a pineapple one. I couldn’t find a “rainbow” flavored syrup, which seemed odd given the name, so I just went with a bunch of fruity ones.
- Sparkling Water: Easy peasy. Just picked up a big bottle of plain sparkling water.
- Ice: Got that at home, thankfully.
Mixing It Up (The Messy Part)
So, I got back home, all excited to try this. I laid out all my syrups and my big glass. The idea was to layer the different flavors to create a rainbow effect. I started with the strawberry at the bottom, figuring it would be the “densest”. Then, I carefully poured in some blue raspberry. It kinda mixed with the strawberry a bit, but I figured it would still look okay.
Next up was mango. This is where things started to get a little…messy. The mango syrup was way thinner than the others, and it just kinda splashed into the glass, messing up the layers. The pineapple was even worse! It was so watery that it pretty much just turned the whole thing into a murky brown color.
The (Disappointing) Result
I added the sparkling water, hoping it would magically fix everything. It didn’t. Instead of a beautiful rainbow, I ended up with a cloudy, brownish drink with a hint of fruit flavors. It tasted okay, I guess, kinda like a fruit punch that had seen better days. But it definitely didn’t look anything like the picture.
I think the key is probably getting syrups that are all the same consistency. Or maybe there’s some secret technique I don’t know about. I might try it again sometime, but I’ll definitely need to do some more research first. For now, I’m sticking to plain old lemonade.
