Alright, so I was messin’ around with my disposable vape today, and things got a bit weird. I took a hit, and afterwards, it started making this hissing sound. It really freaked me out, so I started digging into what the heck was going on.
Figuring Out the Hiss
First thing I did was take the vape apart as much as I could. These things aren’t really meant to be disassembled, but I managed to get a look inside. I noticed there was some e-liquid kinda pooled where it shouldn’t be. So, my first guess was that this e-liquid leakage was the culprit.

- Checked for leaks: I grabbed a paper towel and carefully cleaned up any e-liquid I could find, especially around the airflow intake.
- Dried the pod: Since I was using a pod-based disposable, I took the pod out and dried it, along with the chamber where it connects to the device.
After cleaning it up, I put it back together and tried again. Nope, still hissing. This meant the problem wasn’t just a simple leak.
Digging Deeper
Next, I started thinking about the coil. I know that in most disposable vapes, there’s this coil activation mechanism that heats up the e-liquid. I figured maybe the coil was staying hot even after I finished my hit. This could cause the leftover e-liquid to keep vaporizing, which might explain the hissing.
Another idea I had was that the coil itself might be faulty. If the coil isn’t working right, it could cause all sorts of weird issues, including hissing sounds.
What I Learned
It looks like there are several reasons why a disposable vape might hiss after a hit. It could be as simple as some e-liquid leaking or as complicated as a faulty coil.
I did a bit more digging and it looks like that sometimes the vape device is auto-firing because of the liquid getting into the air intake, meaning the coil will stay hot for a bit even after you are done inhaling.
Unfortunately, with disposable vapes, there’s only so much troubleshooting you can do. I tried cleaning it, and adjusting how I was hitting it, but nothing worked for me this time.

So, I ended up just tossing it and grabbing a new one. But hey, at least I learned a few things about how these things work, even if it’s not much.
