Alright, so you got yourself one of them fancy Geek Bars, huh? Them little things are gettin’ popular, like them TikTok dances the young’uns do. But you’re probably scratchin’ your head wonderin’, “How long’s this thing gonna take to charge up?” Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t rocket science.
First off, it ain’t all the same. See, these Geek Bars, they come in different shapes and sizes, like potatoes in a garden. Some are them throw-away types, them disposables, you use ‘em and toss ‘em. Them, you don’t charge at all. You just puff away till they’re done, then get yourself a new one. Wasteful, if you ask me, but that’s how they make ‘em.

Now, if you got one of them rechargeable ones, that’s a different story. Them, you gotta plug in, just like your phone. But how long it takes? Well, that’s like askin’ how long it takes to cook a chicken. Depends on the chicken, see? And on the charger, too.
- Some of them Geek Bars, they charge up pretty quick, like a cat nappin’ in the sun. I heard tell some of ‘em take maybe 55 minutes or so. That ain’t bad, faster than it takes me to make a pot of coffee. That’s if you use one of them new-fangled USB-C chargers. They say them chargers are faster, like a racehorse compared to a mule.
- But then you got others, smaller ones maybe, that charge up even faster. Heard tell of some takin’ only 40 minutes to get full of juice. Imagine that! Quicker than a hiccup. But mind you, I ain’t seen it myself, just heard it from the youngsters.
- And then there’s the others, take a bit longer, maybe up to an hour or even an hour and a half (90 minutes). Like bakin’ a good loaf of bread, gotta be patient. Them bigger ones, they got more battery, so it takes longer to fill ‘em up, like fillin’ a big ol’ waterin’ can compared to a teacup.
So, how do you know how long yours will take? Well, sometimes they tell you on the box, if you still got it. But if not, you just gotta plug it in and see. Most of ‘em got a little light that tells you when it’s done. Red means it’s chargin’, green means it’s ready to go, like a traffic light. Simple as that.
Now, some folks say you shouldn’t leave ‘em plugged in all night. Says it’s bad for the battery, like overfeedin’ a pig. Makes it fat and lazy, and it won’t last as long. I don’t know if that’s true or just city folk talk, but I figure it can’t hurt to unplug it when it’s done. Better safe than sorry, I always say.
And listen here, how long that Geek Bar lasts after it’s charged, that’s another story altogether. Depends on how much you puff on it, like how much gas you use in your car depends on how much you drive. They say some of ‘em last a long time, hundreds of puffs, more than them old-timey cigarettes. But if you’re puffin’ on it all day long, like a chimney, it ain’t gonna last as long, that’s for sure.
So, there you have it. Ain’t no straight answer, but hopefully, that gives you a good idea. Just remember, treat it right, charge it right, and it’ll last you a good while. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.
