Oh dear, I done dropped my vape in water! Now it ain’t workin’, and I’m sittin’ here wonderin’ what I can do about it. Well, don’t you worry none, I might just have a few tricks up my sleeve that might help ya out in this mess.
First thing’s first, if you ever find yourself in this situation, don’t panic. I know, it’s easy to get all upset, thinkin’ your vape’s done for good, but sometimes you can still save it if you’re careful. Now, water and electronics don’t mix too well, but there’s a chance you can dry it out and get it workin’ again. Let’s talk about that first.

When you drop your vape in water, what happens is that the water gets into the inside where all them tiny little wires and parts are. And let me tell you, them wires don’t like water one bit. Water can cause short circuits, which means your vape won’t turn on or work like it should. If it’s all wet inside, it can mess up the coil, the tank, and all them little parts. Worse still, it can even mess up the e-liquid and make a big ol’ mess inside your vape.
But before you go and throw that vape out the window, there’s something you can try. One thing I heard folks do is put the vape and all its parts into a bag of dry rice. Yes, I said rice! Rice can soak up the water like nobody’s business. You just put your vape and all its parts in there, and leave it for a good 24 hours. Let that rice do its job and suck out the moisture. It might seem silly, but sometimes it works, and it don’t cost nothin’ but a bag of rice.
If rice ain’t your thing, you can also try blowin’ warm air on it. But listen here, don’t go puttin’ it in a hot oven or throwin’ it on the stove – that’s gonna cause more harm than good. Instead, get a hair dryer, but keep it on a low setting. You want warm air, not hot as a frying pan. Hold the dryer about six inches away from the vape and blow the air on it for about 20 minutes. After that, let it cool off for a bit. You might have to repeat this a couple times, but slow and steady wins the race. Just don’t overdo it, or you might end up burnin’ the poor thing.
Now, I gotta warn ya, this ain’t no guarantee. Sometimes, if the water’s been in there too long, or if it’s caused too much damage, your vape might not ever be the same. Water can corrode them little parts inside, and that could make it all stop workin’ for good. You might notice the heating element’s not workin’ right, or maybe it starts cloggin’ up on ya. And I ain’t even talkin’ about the trouble with the airflow! If it’s clogged up, it won’t give you them nice, smooth puffs like it used to.
One more thing – if you got a vape with one of them lithium-ion batteries, be real careful. Them batteries don’t like water at all. If water gets into the battery part, it could cause a short circuit, and that can be real dangerous. So, if you try all these things and it still don’t work, maybe it’s time to take it to a professional to make sure there ain’t no further damage, especially to the battery.
But hey, if you’re lucky and you get that vape dry enough, it just might start workin’ again! I’ve heard of folks who managed to fix theirs just by doin’ a little rice trick and lettin’ it dry out good. So, don’t lose hope too quick.
And just in case you didn’t know – vapes ain’t built to be waterproof, so always be careful when you’re usin’ ’em around water. A little splash is fine, but drop it in a puddle or a glass of water, and you’re askin’ for trouble. Keep it safe and dry, and maybe you won’t have to go through all this fuss again.
Now, if all else fails, you might have to say goodbye to your old vape and go get yourself a new one. But that’s alright, I reckon. Sometimes things just wear out, and that’s how life goes. At least you tried!
